Shelburne Farms
Shelburne, Vermont
The Farm
Shelburne Farms is an education nonprofit on a mission to inspire and cultivate learning for a sustainable future. The farm and education team believes that transformative learning experiences sow the seeds for a thriving and more just world. Their work seeks to create the space, spark the conversations, and share the stories to inspire educators, students, and learners of all ages to build a better future for everyone.
The farm supports a vibrant forest ecology program, dairy and cheesemaking operation, and market garden. The goals of the farm are to produce nutritious food, maintain healthy soils and water, create robust and equitable local food systems, foster biodiversity, build climate resiliency, and achieve climate stability.
The Team
A diverse and multi-talented team supports the operations and educational activities at Shelburne Farms. The Climate Farm School program will meet with Sam Dixon (Dairy Farm Manager) and Josh Carter (Market Garden Manager) and will learn from Vera Simon-Nobes (Farm-Based Education Network Coordinator) and others on the Education team during the on farm week.
